ARTHRITIS NZ

STATEMENT:-
- we regularly promote awareness of arthritis, the organization and our services
- we represent the interests of people affected by arthritis
- we advocate for improved services for people with arthritis including access to appropriate treatments and timely intervention by arheumatologists
- provide regular newsletters
- exercise and hydrotherapy classes
- specialist groups
- work directly with clients to assist them to self-manage their arthritis.
ASTHMA SOCIETY

STATEMENT:-
- promote public awareness and understanding of asthma and related conditions
- promote patient understanding of asthma and development of self management skills
- represent and advocate on behalf of people with respiratory disease
- encourage continuous learning and update knowledge about respiratory disease among health professionals
- support scientific research.

CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU

STATEMENT:-
- we provide information on consumer rights
- education and training
- work & unemployment
- legal advice, disputes and human rights and many other issues
- we help put you in touch with services you need, help you find answers to difficult questions and work with you to sort out problems
- is part of a nationwide Citizens Advice Bureau + workers are volunteers specially trained to listen to you and provide the information or advice you need

CARERS' SOCIETY OTAGO

STATEMENT:-

EPILEPSY NEW ZEALAND

STATEMENT:-
- work alongside people newly diagnosed with epilepsy to establish an understanding of the condition as it affects each individual
- support families and carers of the person with epilepsy
- provide up-to-date information
- provide advocacy and support for the person with epilepsy
- offer counseling or referrals to appropriate providers
- offer a support network providing social contact on an individual or group basis
- liaise with other services for the provision of client needs when appropriate
- provide education to schools, tertiary bodies, community groups, workplaces etc.
TOROA RADIO

STATEMENT:-
- broadcasts throughout the Otago region on 1575 kHz AM, and on the web through our website.
- is Dunedin's Community Access Radio Station - provides the community with time on the radio.
- is true local community radio.
- aims to provide all members of the community and community groups with the resources to make their own radio programme, about any subject at all.
- has around 83 members (including community groups) from all areas of the community, all making their own individual programmes.
- the founding principle of Access Radio is "by, for and about the local community" - the idea that people can always tell their own stories best without intereference or editorial control, and that local people need an opportunity to hear real local voices telling real local stories.
MEISS

STATEMENT:-
- ME/CFS is an illness that may leave sufferers exhausted after minimal activities

STROKE FOUNDATION OF NZ INC

STATEMENT:-
- we provide support for stroke related problems
- we assist with transport and club activities
- regular meetings in a warm environment with easy access
- guest speakers on a variety of topics
- gentle exercises
- occasional outings.
RICHMOND NZ

STATEMENT:-
- we offer a service to people dealing with alcohol and drug abuse we offer an initial confidential assessment
- monitoring of detoxification on a day to day basis
- support for family/whanau or friends

- referral to other agencies as necessary
